It all started in one corner of the office, but after sending around a free trial code “grazers” have sprung up all around the office. So what is grazing? Well we haven’t started eating grass and walking around the office on all fours, if that’s what you’re wondering. Grazing is the new office snacking. Graze boxes are a type of cool, hip lunchbox and the best part is that they are delivered straight to your desk.
The idea is that you can eat healthy, “nutrionally balanced” snacks throughout the day. So, you can save money buying less for lunch, or lose weight by skipping lunch (or you can just eat more like me!).
The people at Graze seemed to have really consider the whole user experience when creating these boxes and the whole thing is very easy and fun.
The first step is to go onto the Graze website and enter your details. If you have a code (such as his one: J4JRYXK) you’ll get your first Graze box for free (the normal price is £2.99). You can choose the day (or days) you want your Graze box delivered as well as if you want a grazenibble, with four “nibbles”, or a grazefruit, with two “nibbles” and one fruit section. All of this is very fast and painless. It is also very easy to change the day of your Graze box or even cancel it.
The next step is to go through the available nibbles and rate them. This helps the people at Graze know what to send you. You can “like” or “love” foods that you enjoy, and even opt to have them sent soon. Or you can “try” foods and even “bin” the ones you don’t want in your Graze box. This step is optional. So, if you don’t care what you get you can skip this part leaving all the nibbles on their default “try”.
It’s great that there are images of the nibbles instead of just a description so you have more of an idea of what the snack actually is. Also, if you decide to “bin” something with a particular ingredient the website asks you if you want to “bin” all nibbles containing this ingredient, which can save you time.
Now all you have to do is wait for your box to arrive. You get a reminder email the day before letting you know that your box is being prepared and you can decide whether or not you want to see what is in your box. One of our office grazers says that she likes that the contents of her Graze box is a surprise.
The Graze boxes are sent in the post, so they should arrive in the morning. They come in a plain cardboard, natural looking, box, which is appropriate for the “nature delivered” theme of the boxes.
The only thing I found frustrating about the Graze boxes are the plastic bands that have to be removed. However, this is only a minor issue and it soon comes off giving you access to your food!
Once the Graze box is opened you are greeted with your own personalised note telling you about what is in your box, including the nutritional information. There are also free Graze box vouchers to tear off and give to your friends.
Each of your food items comes individually packaged in recycled plastic containers. If you want to you can keep different sections for different days of the week. I haven’t really been able to do this and just end up everything the day my box arrives.
The different nibbles also have amusing little names, such as “date to remember”, which is a mixture of dates and raisins.
If you order the grazefruit, like me, you get a cute little fork to eat your fruit with.
Another nifty touch to the Graze box is that under the plastic containers there is grass (and a napkin). This really adds a fun, natural, grazing, touch.
All the snacks I’ve had so far have been good. I especially like the fresh fruit. After eating your nibbles you can go onto the website and update your ratings. If you really loved one of your snacks (such as one of our office grazers who came out with a loud “wow!” after trying one of his) you can let the people at Graze know, and hopefully you’ll get it more frequently.
I love the Graze boxes and can’t wait for my next one. I really think the effortless process of setting up the boxes, the free trial vouchers, and the appealing design of the neat boxes (as well as the quality of the food) are going to make Graze successful. People around the office are saying that they are “great” and “tasty”. Someone has also come up with the idea of a corporate Graze box, which would be an extra large Graze box for the whole office to share. What do you think? Will you become a grazer?
